1956 Topps #187 Early Wynn

So I have started trying to put together the 1956 Topps Indians team set. It did not start off well. I had almost the whole set lined up on ebay, with Snipes ready. They were mostly non-graded, mid grade cards, so I thought I would do well.

I was destroyed.

This was the only card that I was able to win. I set the snipe a little higher since it was a nice card with a good grade, and I won it at…

New Arrival: Josh Willingham, of, Minnesota Twins

New Arrival: Josh Willingham, of, Minnesota Twins

2009 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Autographs

A couple years ago the Indians tried to sign Willingham. He ended up taking less money to play for the Twins. At the time is was a real kick in the face since it sort of pointed to the face that players just really, really dont want to play in Cleveland. I was bummed, since I have always been a fan of his and think he would have been a great fit to a…

2013 Panini Americas Pastime

Pretty much the only Met that I have any interest in, I have been wanting to add a nice Wright autograph to my collection for a while. Being that I try to have a budget, I did not want to spend a ton. I have lost out on this card a bunch of times, but finally lucked out–to the tune of $10.  Very easy on the budget.  This set is one of my favorites–clean autographs and…

2003 Bowman Heritage #167

I have been wanting to get this card signed since I pulled it out of a pack forever ago.  I was thinking about mailing it to the Tigers when I was able to find another copy of it, signed, for only $10.  I jumped.  Considering the season he is having I am thinking its a steal.  And its a nice looks card too.  Maybe a little busy, but something about the old school…

New Arrival: Greg Allen, of, Cleveland Indians

New Arrival: Greg Allen, of, Cleveland Indians

resized_IMG_0007

Greg Allen was the Indians 6th Round pick this season, out of San Diego State University.

I am not sure how the Indians managed to get him in the 6th Round, since most things that I read said that he was a Top 100 talent.  He is a classic center fielder:  not a ton of power, but makes up for it with speed, defense and a patient approach at the plate.  One report that I read said that his floor…

New Arrival: Bradley Zimmer, of, Cleveland Indians

resized_IMG_0005

Man, I was really excited to get this autograph! Zimmer was the Indians 1st Round pick this season, and is now playing at Mahoning Valley.

Zimmer was drafted out of the University of San Francisco, were he had a great final season (7 HR, 31 RBI through 54 games). More impressive was his selection as the Cape Cod League MVP last summer.

He is doing really well in his first go at pro ball, and has…

New Arrival: Taylor Murphy, of, Cleveland Indians

Taylor Murphy was drafted by the Padres in 2011 (40th Round).  He did not sign, and instead went to the University of the Pacific.  This year he was drafted in the 18th Round, signed, and assigned to Mahoning Valley.

His numbers so far are pretty fantastic, with a.857 OPS and great .402 OBP.  I don’t think he is long for the Valley, and should move up soon to Lake County.

New Arrival: Francisco Mejia, c, Cleveland Indians

New Arrival: Francisco Mejia, c, Cleveland Indians

resized_IMG_0004

Coming into the season Mejia was rated the Indians #12 prospect.  This was pretty high praise considering he is 18 and has yet to play full season ball.  All the scouting reports I read on him are excellent, noting his excellent bat and good power.  He is a little raw behind the plate, but he looks to be improving.  He is holding his own at short season Low-A ball in 2014.  He has quickly become…
